2018 ADDY Winners

AAF-Jacksonville presented its 2018 American Advertising Awards for advertising creative excellence on the night of Saturday, February 17, 2016 at the Jacksonville Main Library. This annual dinner and awards presentation, also known as the ADDYs, was attended by over 100 individuals of the local advertising and media community.

The American Advertising Awards Competition is a three-tiered national competition conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation. The American Advertising Awards Competition is the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition for creative excellence.

22 gold ADDY Awards and 45 silver ADDY Awards were presented. Entries were judged based on creativity, originality and creative strategy. Top awards of the evening went to the “Best of Show” winners.

Marla Lucas Wins Jack Philipps Gold Medal at 2017 District ADDYs

The 2017 District ADDY Awards got off to a great start in early May. Jacksonville won over 25 gold and silver District ADDY Awards and 4 Charlie Awards that really showcased the talent in Duval. To top it all off, one of Jacksonville’s own was awarded the highest honor by AAF 4th District; a Jack Philipps Gold Medal.

The Jack Philipps Gold Medal is the highest honor bestowed by the AAF 4th District. It is present in recognition of outstanding contributions to advertising and furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence, and public service.

Marla Lucas was presented the award at the 2017 District ADDYs. Her commitment to the advertising community is what inspired the nomination, as she has served as president of AAF Jacksonville, Governor of 4th District, and will be serving as Eastern Region Chair.

“Marla is a constant force for good in the advertising industry – particularly in Florida. We all owe her a great deal of gratitude for the overwhelming amount of time and resources she has contributed to furthering the mission of the American Advertising Federation.  I can think of no one more deserving of the Jack Phillips Gold medal award than Marla.” – Yeosh Bendayan, 4AAF Immediate Past Governor

The award was created to honor the memory of Jack Philipps, who passed away while serving as the 4th District Treasurer. His work in the advertising profession was the epitome of professionalism and service. The objective of the award is to recognize men and women of the AAF 4th District who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been active in furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence, and responsibility in the areas of social concern. The first Jack Philipps Gold Medal was presented in 1984 and past recipients can be read here.

2017 ADDY Winners Revealed

AAF-Jacksonville presented its 2017 American Advertising Awards for advertising creative excellence on the night of Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Ramallah Club. This annual dinner and awards presentation, also known as the ADDYs, was attended by over 120 individuals of the local advertising and media community.

Over 300 submissions were critiqued by out-of-market judges and from that, 28 gold ADDY Awards and 47 silver ADDY Awards were presented. Entries were judged based on creativity, originality and creative strategy. Top awards of the evening went to the “Best of Show” winners.

Brunet-Garcia captured the 2017 Best of Show for “100 Plates” Campaign.
 Student Best of Show went to Courtney Anne Babchyck from Flagler College for her animation “A Boy Called Jex”. A Student Judge’s Award went to Joshua Manning for Super Signer! Tablet App. Professional Judge’s Awards also went to On Ideas for Jacksonville Symphony Disney poster, Castaño Group for See The Girl Installation and to Wingard Creative for MOSH Rebrand Reveal Reel.

Gayle Hart Wins Silver Medal

The 2016 ADDY® Awards was a night of excitement. With 57 awards presented to those in the advertising industry there were plenty of smiles on faces, but one stood out from the crowd. The 2016 Silver Medal award winner.

The Silver Medal is the highest award that can be given by AAF-Jacksonville to recognize men and women who have made outstanding contributions to advertising. They have been active in furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern. Annually, AAF chapters bestow this honor upon outstanding members of the local advertising community.

On Saturday night, Gayle Hart earned this honor.

Kendall barsin and Tyler Morris presented the award not only as former presidents of AAF Jacksonville, but also as Gayle’s former interns and, more importantly, as her friends.

Over the years, Gayle has shown commitment to the Jacksonville advertising community through the years professionally in radio, City of Jacksonville special events and for the past 17 years as the Director of Marketing for the Jacksonville Fairgrounds and Expo Center.

Throughout her career she has made countless relationships with her work, through local designers, event planners, media and many businesses just to name a few. She has also earned her Certified Fair Executive status from the International Association of Fairs and Expositions. Gayle also has served as the President of the Florida Federation of Fairs. Her marketing campaigns for the Jacksonville Fair have been recognized nationally and have taken home numerous awards.

Here is a note from Lisa Hinton, a colleague of Gayle’s and the Executive Director of the Florida Federation of Fairs.

Gayle has brought a great, new dynamic to the Fair industry with her creative ideas for promoting and advertising. She always approaches a project full speed ahead and tackles any project that come her way – from organizing creating and implementing an event, to its promotion and advertising. Gayle is one of those people that’s still there making sure everything gets done, long after everyone else has gone home.

If you have been involved with AAF Jax or attended one of AAF Jax’s events in the last 20 years, you have been impacted by Gayle Hart’s contributions. Her constant dedication to the Jacksonville chapter has made us an example to others chapters around the nation. Gayle has served in literally all positions on the board at some point her AAF Jacksonville career. She is a constant source of support for the organization and often takes on some of the most time consuming projects, which include Past President, Past Addy Chair and of course past, present and probably future Media Auction Chair. Because of her leadership, she was chosen to guide chapters from the entire State of Florida and the Caribbean as the Chair for 4th district AAF President’s Council.

Her contributions to Jacksonville are countless and the hearts of friends and family she has warmed are numerous. We can think of no better person to receive the Silver Medal – her dedication and commitment to making Jacksonville a better place are an inspiration to us all.

 Student Best of Show went to Matthew Quann from Flagler College for his Prism Pasta package design. Special Judge’s Awards were also awarded to Adjective & Co for Whalebone Magazine, “Water Issue;” Brunet-García for FEMA “Up In Smoke Illustrations;” and Small Fox Media for “STOKE” Video.

The American Advertising Federation of Jacksonville invites you to get all gussied up in your 20s attire for the 2016 American Advertising Awards Gala.

AAF Silver Medal Submission Now Open!

Do You Know a Deserving Leader in the Advertising Community?

The American Advertising Federation’s Silver Medal Award Program was established in 1959 to recognize men and women who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been active in furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern. Annually, AAF member clubs bestow this honor upon an outstanding member of their community.

For many local clubs, awarding the AAF Silver Medal is the highlight of their year. It enhances the image of advertising by recognizing a locally well-known person for their advertising and community involvement.

Contribution to His/Her Company

The recipient must have achieved success in one of the following areas of work: advertising agency, advertiser, media or advertising service.

Creative Ability

The recipient must have shown a consistent, high degree of original thinking in their field.

Contributions to the General Advancement of Advertising

The recipient must have worked to increase the stature and raise the standards of the advertising profession.

Contributions to the Community

The recipient should be someone who has been active in civic, religious, or other groups dedicated to human or social welfare.
