Disability Sensitivity Training

AAF Jacksonville invites you to join us for Disability Sensitivity Training on September 8th with The Independent Living Resource Center (ILRC). Volunteering is an important aspect of our chapter, as is diversity, so if you like making a difference, learning new skills, networking and having fun, we encourage you to join us.

During the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the following:

• The Americans With Disability Act
• People First Language
• Disability Etiquette
• Strategies for Inclusion
• Overcoming Stigmas: Fact and Fiction
• Resources available through other agencies

The ILRC provides a wonderful service to a large population in Jacksonville; a population that too few people take the time to consider. We believe it is imperative for local companies and employers to be more aware of persons with disabilities in the workforce, especially given the fact that 1 in 5 people will have a disability at some point in their lifetime.

The class is two hours in length and each participant will receive a certificate upon successful completion.

Everyone in attendance will also have a chance to tour the ILRC facilities.

Date: Monday, September 8th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Location: The ILRC
Address: 2709 Art Museum Drive
